Apiary Studio provided landscape architecture services for a 12-unit new construction apartment complex in the West Passyunk neighborhood of South Philly developed by Metropolitan Group, who consistently prioritize green infrastructure and effusive plantings. Apiary Studio was engaged to design the grounds with permeable paving, cedar fencing around the rear gardens, and customized raised foundation planters and bike racks fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel to complement the building’s exterior with lime-washed bricks and rounded brick corners and jambs by Ambit Architecture. The planting palette reflects our affinity for scrubby, urban-adapted flora that spark curiosity and start conversations, nourish visiting insects, and transform the viewshed for first floor occupants.
